Yes, the same Divyakirti Sir, from whose coaching institute Drishti IAS, many students clear the UPSC exam every year. Due to financial constraints at home, Vikas ji thought of doing UPSC. Got selected in the first attempt, but did not get the desired job. Since then, he made three more attempts, but faced disappointment every time.
But he says that no one can stop those who have strong intentions from being successful. Drishti IAS is also the result of the same strong intentions which is helping lakhs of aspirants today. So how was the journey for Vikas Divyakirti sir from being a humble salesman to building a six million dollar company? What difficulties did he face in this journey and what was the reason that he had to leave politics forever? We will know everything in detail in today’s Blog.
So friends, the story of Vikas Divyakirti ji starts from 26 December 1973 when he was born in a middle class family in Bhiwani, Haryana. Papa was a professor of Hindi Literature in Maharishi Dayanand University and mother also worked as a teacher in a school. Now, although Vikas ji completed his middle and high school studies from Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Haryana, but from the beginning he was so fond of Maths and Hindi that he used to devote all his time to these subjects and this was the reason.
That subjects like English are not their cup of tea. Although he somehow qualified the board exams by taking tuitions etc., his love for Hindi can still be clearly seen in his conversations. Later, Vikas Divyakirti ji thought of doing BA in History, but at this time due to some reason, the conditions of his house became so bad that it became very difficult to even survive. Therefore, after taking admission in Delhi University, he was forced to work as a salesman in a shop to meet his expenses. And yes, Vikas Divyakirti ji also had a lot of interest in politics.
That is why he became active in politics while studying in Delhi University and was a part of many social movements there. But later, under the influence of some people, he started dreaming of IAS and this was the reason that along with MBA, he also started preparing for UPSC. During this time, he met a girl named Taruna Verma. The conversation between the two increased and they started liking each other. Now, since Vikas ji’s elder brother was also not married at that time, he was a little hesitant in telling his family about his relationship.
But still somehow he gathered courage and talked to his father about Taruna and shared his feelings. To this his father replied, no problem. Bring him, we will take care of the rest. After this incident, Taruna started talking to Vikas ji’s parents as well and they had become so friendly even before the marriage that it seemed as if they had started considering Taruna as the daughter-in-law of their house.
Later, after taking Master’s degree, Vikas Divyakirti started working as an Assistant Professor in Delhi University and in 1996, he made History an optional subject and filled the form for UPSC. But later when he studied Sociology, he felt that he could do better in this subject. So he filled the form again. In which Sociology was the subject selected. For the next few months, Vikas Divyakirti ji studied diligently, but as the exam date was coming closer, his nervousness was increasing. Now only seven days were left for the exam and he was so scared that he decided not to appear for the exam.
But when Taruna came to know about this, she tried to explain a lot, but when her words proved to be of no use, she contacted Divyakirti ji’s parents and told them about her condition. After which Vikas Divyakirti ji’s father explained to him on the phone that son, you sit in the exam, what will happen at the most, you will not pass, that’s it. After talking to his father, his fear reduced a bit and he agreed to take the exam.
After this, when Vikas Divyakirti ji gave the exam, he cleared the prelims and after a few days he also cleared the mains, now all that was left was to give the interview for which he was quite confident. Meanwhile, on 26 May 1997, he married Taruna Verma. And friends, only after some time of marriage. Vikas Divyakirti ji was interviewed and then he got success in this also. When the final result came on June 4, 1998, Vikas Divyakirti’s rank was 384. Now Vikas ji was hopeful that his position would be in the top 20 but it could not happen.
Due to which he was quite disappointed. At that time, 56 IAS and 36 IPS seats were available and he was offered a post in CISF i.e. Central Industrial Security Force. But he was not medically fit for that post, hence that seat also went out of the hands of Vikas Divyakirti ji. After this he got the post of Section Officer in the Department of Official Languages of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Now because Vikas Divyakirti ji was not interested in this job at all, he resigned from his post only after eight-10 months. Although he gave many attempts in UPSC to get the job of his choice, sometimes his marks in Mains decreased and sometimes he did not get selected in the interview.
But yes, when Divyakirti ji was preparing, some students used to come to study with him and they were so impressed by his way of teaching that soon the number of students became so large that they all did not sit in one room. And friends, due to the demand of the students, on 1 November 1999, Vikas Divyakirti ji established Drishti IAS and along with running this institute, he also completed his M.Phil. That is, he also obtained degrees like Master of Philosophy, PhD and LLB from Hindi subject.
And friends, his education continued like this and after leaving UPSC preparation, he started giving his main focus to IAS. Initially this institute was opened in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi. But due to increasing demand, its branches were also opened in cities like Jaipur, Prayagraj, Lucknow and Indore. Now friends, Vikas Divyakirti ji’s coaching institute was running very well but one thing was still missing in his life, politics. Actually, in 2015, with the suggestion of some special people, Vikas ji decided to enter politics and he started with the elections of his society.
Because of his good personality he got victory here and then he did a lot of good work according to him. Many positive changes were clearly seen in the society. Even to bring transparency in his work, he created a WhatsApp group, in which all discussions took place in front of people. People appreciated his working style and honesty. Liked. But there were some critics also due to whom he had to face a lot of problems. Besides, his opposition always kept making allegations and counter-allegations due to which Divyakirti sir started getting worried.
Despite working honestly, many false allegations were made against him and this was the reason why he started falling ill within 15 days of assuming the post. Vikas Divyakirti Sir got himself treated for a long time. Multiple tests were done. Many doctors were changed but no one could understand what happened to him. Later, after a year, when he consulted a neurologist, the doctor, after examining him, told him that he was physically completely fit.
Only some kind of anxiety is troubling you. After this, on the doctor’s suggestion, he stayed away from his mobile phone for a week. Due to which his condition became much better. After this experience, Vikas Sir became a little serious about his condition because the doctor had also said that if you remain anxious for a long time, you will become addicted to medicines. After all this came to light, Vikas sir had understood that if he did not come out of politics, he would never be able to remain fit again.
In such a situation, giving priority to his health, he resigned from his political post. And the amazing thing is that within six-seven days of his resignation he also gave up his medicines. And friends, because of all these events Vikas Divyakirti sir decided that now he Will never step into politics. After leaving politics, Divyakirti ji thought of doing something for those students who could not afford free UPSC preparation.
After a lot of thinking, he started his two YouTube channels in the year 2017 so that with the help of this platform he could provide education for free.
