Success Story
Friends, today the name Neeraj Chopra is resonating all over India. After winning the gold medal in Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj has become the pride of the country today. But do you know that behind this success of Neeraj is hidden his years of hard work and a lot of struggle. Today this good looking athlete used to be 80 kg in his childhood and people used to make fun of Neeraj. Despite being from a farmer family and getting injured shortly before the Olympics, Neeraj never gave up and today at the age of just 23, he has become an inspiration for the entire country and especially our youth.
And today’s Article is important for every Indian youth who has big dreams and wants to do something extraordinary in life. Friends, Neeraj Chopra was born on 24 December 1997 in Khandra, a small village of Haryana which is in Panipat and his entire family mainly does farming. Now, because there were four brothers in the family including his father and Neeraj was the first child of the family, that is why he got the most pampering in his childhood and due to this his health also started improving and from then onwards Neeraj’s journey started. When he was only 11 years old, his weight had reached around 80 kg.
Due to which the children and people around him used to make fun of him a lot and due to this reason, his self-esteem was very low in his childhood. Neeraj says that due to living among such negative people, his self-confidence was decreasing and he did not think that he would be able to achieve anything big in life. But this time he decided that he would not allow himself to be made fun of any more. For which his family members made him join Panipat Stadium. Where he used to run to lose his weight. But once he saw his senior Jaiveer Chaudhary throwing the javelin, who at that time was representing Haryana in javelin.
So one day his senior asked him to try throwing the javelin and in the very first throw, Neeraj threw the javelin very far, seeing which his senior told him that Neeraj, you have thrown very well and you are very good in this game. You can go ahead. Then after hearing this, Neeraj started his training, as soon as he did it, he says that he had a realization that he could do very well in javelin throw. Due to which his self-esteem increased and he decided that he would achieve mastery in Javelin only.
After training for several times, Neeraj told his father that he wanted to buy a javelin which cost ₹ 1 lakh which is a huge amount for a farmer and at that time the renovation of his house was going on. But still his father stopped all the work and first bought Neeraj a Javelin and fully supported his admissions. Friends, we would like to say here that even our family members support us only when we show them something in advance, even if it is big or small. When they see that passion in our eyes and the hard core, non-stop self-discipline to achieve their dreams in daily life, they also think of supporting us or taking a risk on us.
And anyway, not supporting the family does not mean that we also give up on our dreams. And if any parent is watching this Article right now, then this is our request that even if it is not financial, please support your child’s dreams. Many times your support means everything to them. Well, Neeraj says that it was very difficult for him to train in Panipat because there were no proper facilities for javelin throw there. Due to which he shifted to Panchkula at the age of 14 and started his training in a sports nursery there where he trained along with other athletes. When Neeraj used to break his record with his next throw, it used to act as a motivation pump for him.
Neeraj says that his motivation kept increasing after every best throw. Because of which he kept pushing his limits further. After which, in 2012, he played his first Junior Nationals in Lucknow and created a national record by throwing 61 points of 400 meters. Because Neeraj never let his circumstances come in the way of his dreams. He always kept moving ahead fighting all his problems. Meanwhile, he also participated in many national competitions and won them too. Similarly, after working hard non-stop, he won his first international gold in the Youth Olympics in Bangkok in 2012. After achieving so much at such a young age, he got an opportunity.
Joining the National Level Training Camp, which Neeraj himself describes as the turning point of his career, because there he got good facilities, better diet and most importantly, he got the opportunity to learn with National Level Javelin athletes, which boosted his morale and motivated him to work hard. Inspired for which is very important for success. Because if you want to achieve anything in life then be with people who push you towards your goals.
Stay motivated to work harder by being with people who will not take you away from your goals. Well, in the IAAF World Championship held in Poland in Two Thousand Sixteen, Neeraj won his next gold by throwing 165 meters and at the same time, he became the first Indian athlete to create a world record by throwing this distance. Similarly, Neeraj kept winning many national and international competitions and impressed by his performance in the South Asian Games, the Indian Army gave Neeraj the post of Junior Commissioned Officer, which was a big thing for him, because no one in his entire family had any such post.
There was no government job and he got a stable job at such a young age. Where he no longer had to depend on his family’s income for his training. Neeraj tells that he learned to maintain discipline because of the army. Due to living the army life, he increased his mental strength and was becoming stronger physically and mentally. Because of which it became easier for him to focus on his goal. Neeraj tells that the idea of achieving your goal is very simple. Just keep your body healthy, eat a good diet, do workouts and also keep your mind strong so that it remains focused on your goal and does not get distracted.
But making this process successful is very difficult and the one who does this difficult work can achieve all his goals. That is why Neeraj became the first Indian to win javelin throw in the Commonwealth Games of 2018, after which he also received many national awards. But while playing football with his friends, Neeraj got a serious injury to his right elbow. Due to which he had to undergo surgery and he missed the World Championship of 2009 and the qualifying competitions for Tokyo Olympics had also started.
Now in such a short time he had to fix his elbow and qualify for the Olympics. Neeraj tells that he had no option but to prepare himself. Therefore, he corrected himself with a lot of patience and focused a lot on his diet and workout. He knew that if his elbow was not cured, he would not be able to play the Olympics this time. That is why he did not reduce even one percent of what he could do to make himself the best and after successfully healing, he went to South Africa in November 2022 to get ready for the qualification for the Olympics.
Where he took training from German biomechanics expert Klaus Bartlett and then after a gap of sixty months, he returned to international competitions in January 2020. Where he won the Athletic Central North West League meeting in South Africa by throwing a point of 100 meters and also qualified for the Tokyo Olympics by throwing more than 500 meters. But even here his troubles did not end. To prepare for the Main Olympics, he had to go to Turkey, where he was able to train well.
But due to Covid outbreak, he had to come back to India in March, due to which he had to do his training in less facilities and on March 5, Neeraj broke his own record and created a new record of 557 meters. Neeraj says that at this time he was not able to train properly for the Olympics, for which it was necessary for him to go out. But due to Covid, his visa to Sweden was rejected where he was trying everything. But due to the pandemic his game was not improving.
In which Neeraj tells that it was a very frustrating experience for him but he kept fighting and also pushing his limits. Finally he was given permission to travel to Europe where he reached Paris with his coach and there he won his first gold of 2021 with a throw of 23 points and eight meters. But due to Covid, he was facing problem in getting visa for many games. Due to so much travelling, his training was also getting disturbed. But this time also he kept himself mentally and physically strong despite all the problems.
His coach Uwe Hahn tells that Neeraj used to sit with a notebook during his training and kept making tricks to improve his techniques. He used to watch the Articles of Javelin world record holder Zelensky again and again and kept learning from him. While training, Neeraj’s main focus was on how he could make his today the best. The result of which is that by combining so many years of hard work and the best performance of his training every single day, he won the tenth Olympic gold medal for India on 7 August 2021, which made him the first athlete in our country to bring gold in javelin throw. .
Neeraj has achieved so much at the young age of just 23 years. In this age where most people party, have fun with friends, have girlfriends or boyfriends, Neeraj does not have a girlfriend because at this time he wants to focus only on his career. Neeraj tells that he had stopped using his phone last year itself so that he could focus better without getting disturbed. That’s why today he has a Fortuner car. Where his first bike was Pulsar which cost around Rs 1.5 lakh and today Neeraj also has a Harley Davidson bike worth Rs 1000000.
Even after winning gold in the Olympics, Neeraj is receiving many gifts from the entire country, in which the Haryana Government has given him a cash prize of Rs 6 crore. Punjab and Manipur have given a cash prize of Rs 1 crore as reward. Besides, BCCI and Chennai Super Kings team also gave a cash prize of Rs 1 crore for him. Some companies like Anand Mahindra have gifted him their latest XUV 700 and Indigo Flights have announced free travel for the whole year for him.
Today, at the age of just 23, his net worth has reached Rs 8 to 10 crores. Neeraj Chopra cites consistency as the reason for his victory.
